Meet Lori!

Lori Hannahs is partnering with Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity to build stability, security, and self-reliance.

When asked about her new Habitat home, Lori said she is most excited about being able to have friends and family over, to entertain, to have her daughter and son-in-law visit.  “I would love to unpack my life which is in boxes/tubs and have a place to call home… and have a healthy safe place to raise grandkids someday and not be ashamed of my place.” Lori is also looking forward to having a yard and planting flowers.

Lori’s life changed about 8 years ago when she went through a divorce, was left with bills to pay, and had to move into a rental that was unclean and unsafe.  She lives paycheck to paycheck while dealing with water leaks, mold, and mildew.  She suffers from allergies and headaches due to her current living conditions.

Lori has been working hard this past year, paying off bills and a credit card, and trying to save for the down payment on her home.  She believes in hard work and helping others, and she is excited to put in the sweat equity required to build her Habitat home.  Lori says, “I am willing to do whatever it takes…” For Lori, her safe and affordable Habitat for Humanity home means stability, security, and self-reliance.
