Volunteering at the Habitat ReStore is a fun way to make a difference in your community without swinging a hammer. Not only do ReStore volunteers help Habitat for Humanity build affordable homes in the Brainerd Lakes Area, they also keep our community clean and green by diverting more than 1,000 pounds of reusable material out of the waste stream every day!

Clean, repair, sort and stock donations
We build houses, but we tear them apart, too. We partner with contractors and individuals in the area to save quality materials from homes that are being remodeled or demolished. Salvage volunteers go to the sites and remove things like cabinets, appliances, doors, windows and flooring. These items are then brought to the ReStore to be sold. Salvage opportunities vary week to week depending on contractor referrals, but there is generally 1-3 projects a week in the fall and a few scattered throughout the rest of the year.
Pickup volunteers take our trucks and trailers throughout the Lakes Area, collecting donations of new and gently used home improvement materials, furniture and appliances and deliver them to the ReStore. During the summer/fall we need volunteers to go out nearly 5 days a week.
