Meet Our New Development Director!

Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that we've hired Lori Rubin as our Development Director, effective January 3, 2022. “We at Habitat are excited to welcome Lori to our team and look forward to working together to bring more families home!” says Kevin Pelkey, Executive Director.

Lori comes to us with many years of experience helping area nonprofits. She has had a passion to serve others since she was a child. "I have been involved with a lot of nonprofits as a volunteer, which has been fabulous, however, there were never enough hours in the day to help further a mission, while trying to also work my day job. This new role blends my love of community and my desire to give back and I get to do it every day!"

Prior to joining Habitat, Lori spent 20 years in the telecommunications industry and last 3 and half years in the health and life insurance industry.

Lori is an active member of the Brainerd Area Sertoma club. She served as the MN North District Governor and MN North District fund raising representative for Sertoma. She also has served on the board for Outreach of the Brainerd Lakes Area and Kinship Partners, served as the activities chair for the MN Governor’s fishing opener, she is a former Brainerd Lakes Chamber ambassador and loves to find other ways to give back to her community.

She is a current commissioner on the long-range planning commission for the city of Baxter.

Lori is a proud Mom of 4 kids and 2 really cute dogs. She enjoys camping, boating, live music, and watching live sporting events.
