LAHFH Weekly Volunteer Update July 24th, 2020

It will soon be August, where has the summer gone? It has been a beautiful warm and sunny summer, what we look forward to all winter.

At the same time, it has been a unique summer with many new normals, we have all learned to adapt to. Now we are looking at another new normal, for awhile anyway, with the Governors new mask mandate. We want you to know that we are doing our part here at Habitat to continue with best COVID practices to help you to feel comfortable and safe when you shop at our ReStore!

So come and join us by shopping our ReStore, volunteering  your time or service, or giving a financial donation. Even in the midst of this unique time, our families more than ever need a safe place to call home.

Every dollar, every hour, every gift makes a difference!!

Enjoy your summer!

Salvage volunteers NEEDED!

Love to tear things apart when you don't have to put them back together?  Well, we have the opportunity for you. Our salvage season is soon approaching and we are blessed with many, many salvages on our docket. Starting in August, we have a great need for volunteers to help us with these salvages through the fall. You can volunteer for a half day or a full day, we are very flexible.

Our goal is to save as much as possible from going to the landfill but we are needing your help.  If you are interested in helping us out a day or two or know of anyone, please contact Karen at 218-454-7020.

We are grateful for these salvages and how they help us continue  to serve our families and bring them home!

Volunteers needed for  the ReStore!

We are fortunate to be receiving many donations that we are so grateful for. Now we need some volunteers to help us bring these donations to our customers to enjoy. We are looking for volunteers to help cashiering, helping our ReStore receiving team, or help with cleaning and displaying our many, many treasures!!

Please consider how you can help or who you know who would enjoy giving back and making a difference!!

If interested please call Karen at 218-454-7020 or email here

Earlier this year we invited you to be part of our Thrivent Faith Build.  We asked you to partner with us and the Johnson family through prayer, volunteering, and fundraising. We are happy to report that this project is nearing completion!

Thank you for keeping Habitat for Humanity and the Johnsons in your prayers, especially during this trying time of COVID-19.  Thank you for volunteering your time and talent – whether in person or virtually – in support of the Faith Build.  Thank you also for your generosity in funding the project. With so much economic uncertainty in recent months, we are grateful for your continued support.  Several checks arrived in our mailbox this week, and we have now exceeded our goal!!  As we said in last week’s update, we will use any extra funds to cover unforeseen costs and can apply any unused funds to next year’s Faith Build.

As we put the finishing touches on the house, we may need some help with punch list items like doorknobs, towel bars and closet shelving.  Once the sidewalk and driveway are in, we will need help laying sod.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Cathy Wells at cathy.wells@lakesareahabitat.org or 218.454.7019.

Our house dedication will be different this time. In light of the pandemic, we plan to have a live but virtual dedication once the build is complete. We will let you know the details once we have a date and time.

Again, thank you! Please keep praying for Habitat for Humanity and Dale, Katie and Anthony Johnson.  Together we are making a difference!
