The Habitat 500 is a pledged, fully-supported bicycle ride hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota. The Ride’s goal is to raise money and awareness for Habitat for Humanity, helping to provide decent, affordable housing for families in need. The 2018 Ride offers 3-day (~200 miles) and 7-day (500 miles) options.


Each 3-day rider must raise $700, and each 7-day rider must raise a minimum of $1,000. The Habitat 500 can accommodate a maximum of 135 riders. To ensure a spot on the Ride, participants must register online and submit their registration fee.

Funds Raised

Since Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota began coordinating the Ride, we have raised nearly $5 million for Habitat home construction and improvement projects locally and globally. In 2017 alone, the Habitat 500 raised $314,000!

This year’s overnight stops:

  • July 14-16: Becker Community Center, Becker (Registration)
  • July 16-17: Royalton High School, Royalton
  • July 17-19: Runestone Community Center, Alexandria (bike.home. affiliate)
  • July 19-20: Staples-Motley High School, Staples
  • July 20-21: Pioneer Elementary School, Pierz
  • July 21: Becker Community Center (Finish line celebration)

New Ride This Year—Bike to Build MN
Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota

 2018 is the first year of a new one-day bicycling event: Bike to Build Minnesota! This ride takes place Saturday, June 2nd, starting & ending at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi. The event will offer riders 15-mile, 30-mile, and 50-mile options. Families with children under 13 are welcome on the 15-mile route, a loop of the Gateway Trail. Children 13 and older can ride the 30-mile and 50-mile routes with an adult. Registration is $50/person and each rider is asked to raise a minimum of $250 (family discounts are available). The first $250 raised by each rider goes to Habitat Minnesota. Funds raised above this amount may be designated to an affiliate of the rider’s choice.
