Thrivent Financial and Lakes
Area Habitat for Humanity are again joining
forces to build more homes for families in need.
Locally, Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity has
been awarded $115,000, or 65 percent of the
funds necessary, to build two homes in 2008. The
remainder of the funds will be raised by LAHFH
and area Lutheran Congregations.
Construction will begin in the spring and is
expected to continue for several months. One
home will be built in Park Rapids and one in
Brainerd. These homes will be built by local
volunteers, of whom at least one-half will be
Lutheran and one-fourth will be Thrivent
Financial members. The Habitat partner families
will also invest 300 hours of “sweat equity”
helping to build their homes.
Your help is needed. You can share your time and
talents in a number of ways: Prayer, greeting
volunteers at the site, fundraising events,
recruiting, food preparation, volunteering at
the construction site. Youth can also be
involved in many ways. For more information,
